Marquette, MI – June 16, 2025 – State Senator Ed McBroom is calling for a pulling back from angry rhetoric and aggressive political comments and conversations.
The Dickinson County Republican made those comments following the news of this weekend’s shootings of two Minnesota state lawmakers and their spouses at their homes by a lone gunman.
McBroom shared his thoughts and reactions with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
McBroom says as a lawmaker, he has been on the receiving end of death threats over the years, as have many of his political colleagues. He says that, to an extent, that it is part of the job. But, he added that it is time for all to step back from fiery political arguing and to “tone it down”.
McBroom said that it’s okay to have differences of opinion, and to have disagreements, but they should never result in such violence.
