Marquette, MIJune 10, 2025 – The Marquette-Alger RESA is getting involved in a national effort to help develop educational policy and curriculum decision-making for the future through the Google GSV Education Innovation Fellowship.

Marquette-Alger RESA Superintendent Dr. Greg Nyen spoke about the effort with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Nyen explained that the fellowship features a national cohort of education and innovation leaders that are shaping the future of learning through tech that affords a chance to bring innovative ideas back to the U.P. and learn from each other and maximize the potential of today’s learners.

He added that it is important for rural education leaders to be part of national conversations like this as 80% of MI school districts are rural 80% of MI students are urban or suburban.

Nyen said that policy is often shaped by urban and suburban realities, and zip codes should not limit student opportunity.
