Retiring Negaunee Superintendent Dan Skewis Reflects On Career

Marquette, MIJune 4, 2025 – Negaunee Public Schools Superintendent Dan Skewis is retiring as the current school year draws to a close. He recently joined Mark & Walt in the Morning to take a look back on his career as someone who has spent over 30 years in education.

Skewis talked about his time as a teacher just starting out at the downstate Redford Township Schools, his move to the Negaunee schools after two years in Lower Michigan and the years he has served as the District’s Superintendent.

He also took a moment to reflect on the decision to retire and sent out thank yous to those who have been there along the way during his career. He thanked his family, especially for the last 11 years while he has served as Superintendent.

Skewis’ last day as Negaunee Superintendent is June 30th, but he says he will stay onboard to assist with the transition to the new Superintendent, Andy Skewis, and with various projects currently in the pipeline at the Negaunee Public Schools.
