Marquette, MI – May 9, 2025 – Bay College is moving into the summer months with an eye on adapting to multiple challenges on the higher education landscape.
Dr. Nerita Hughes, President of Bay College, shared an update today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Hughes talked about how Bay is addressing and adapting to recent Trump administration executive orders related to federal higher education funding grants for campuses with programs such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, or DEI.
She also outlined how, on a state level, Bay differs as a community college from a four year institution, such as Northern Michigan University, and what advantage those differences give Bay in negotiating the current grant funding landscape.
Hughes wrapped up with some of her thoughts on how she is working to lead the Bay College team through what many consider to be uncertain times for higher education.
