Marquette, MIMay 6, 2025The Lake Superior Community Partnership is continuing efforts to lobby lawmakers in Lansing for ongoing support of programs to support economic development in Marquette County.

LSCP CEO Christopher Germain shared an update on Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Germain highlighted some of the issues addressed by the Marquette Ambassadors on a recent trip to the state capital that he was a part of.

He said some of the key topics they met with legislators and state department staff about were to push for increases to the Rural Readiness and Rural Development Grant programs, advocate for the Revitalization and Placemaking program to be renewed and to secure funding to maintain and increase air service at Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport.

Germain added that another major discussion focused on legislation to clarify the U.P.’s use of Reciprocal Internal Combustion Energy power generators through their useful life in 2049 and still have them count towards the 2023 energy law.
