“Coming To See Aunt Sophie” Tells Story Of WW II Resistance Hero

Marquette, MIMarch 20, 2025 – A staged reading of the play “Coming to See Aunt Sophie” is being performed at Northern Michigan University.

The playwright, Arthur Feinsod, a Professor Emeritus in Theatre and Literature in the Honors College at Indiana State University, spoke about the play with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Feinsod explained the play tells the story of World War II era Polish Resistance hero Jan Karski and his attempts to make the horrors of the Holocaust known.

He shared the story of how he came to write the play and how it connects to experiences he learned about through his father, who was in the 82nd Airborne Division during the war.

Feinsod also talked about the importance of making sure the story of Jan Karski and the resistance stays in the spotlight so it is not forgotten over time.
