
Marquette, MI – February 26, 2025 – On our latest Wildcat Wednesday, we heard an update about events coming up presented by the Department of Music at Northern Michigan University.
Department Head Dr. Mark Flaherty spoke about the events with Mark & walt in the Morning.
Flaherty said the first event is a visit to campus by the Beijing Guitar Duo that will feature a concert, workshops and class visits around the region. The concert, which is part of the Siril Concert Series, is open to the public at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14th at the Reynolds Recital Hall on campus.
Admission is $12 for general admission and free for NMU students and youth 18 and under. Tickets are available at nmu.universitytickets.com.
Flaherty also shared an update on the upcoming NMU Jazz Festival that will be on campus on Thursday and Friday, March 20th and 21st.
He explained the event is focused on getting area high school student together with NMU music student to learn about and play jazz, and will feature visiting artist Matt Wilson. Wilson is an accomplished jazz drummer
There will also be a pair of concerts featuring Wilson and the NMU Jazz Band and Jazz Combo on those dates at the Reynolds Recital Hall.
