
Marquette, MI – February 14, 2025 – Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist is continuing a tour across the Upper Peninsula today with stops in Marquette.
He is meeting with community leaders and groups and is taking part in the UP 200 opening ceremonies tonight in Downtown Marquette.
Gilchrist spoke about his trip so far and more today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Gilchrist recapped his stops this week in Houghton, L’Anse and Munising and highlighted several parts of Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s newest proposed state budget for the upcoming fiscal year. He also shared his thoughts on how he thinks the negotiations will go to set the final plan in Lansing.
Gilchrist wrapped up with some comments about how the current Trump administration’s rapid freezing and dismantling of certain federal government programs, agencies and grants is impacting areas in the state such as the U.P.
