Marquette, MI – July 31, 2024 – Preparations are underway for the 2024 U.S National Guts Frisbee Tournament this weekend in Marquette.

The Marquette Guts Frisbee Association is hosting the tournament at Tourist Park Saturday and Sunday.

Tournament Coordinator Kurt Lahtinen spoke about the event and more with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Lahtinen explained that guts is a high-speed game of frisbee catch with two teams of five competitors standing 15 yards apart.

He said events start up after 9:00am both days with teams from around the Midwest battling for the “Buck” Buchanan memorial trophy, with the Tournament Finals on Sunday afternoon.

Lahtinen added that there is a special event this evening in Marquette will highlight the history of Guts Frisbee in the area. It’s at 6:00pm at the Marquette Regional History Center and features the Center’s summer exhibit entitled “50 Years of Guts Frisbee in Marquette”.

This evening there will be guts demos and a presentation from Steve DesJardins of the Queen City Flyers and Dennis Walikainen the curator of the International Frisbee/USA Guts Hall of Fame in Calumet.
