Marquette, MI – April 23, 2024 – The Marquette Choral Society is presenting a pair of performances this weekend at the Reynolds Recital Hall on the NMU campus in Marquette.
Colwitz said the performances will feature “Divine Light: The Choral Music of Eric Whitacre”, which includes a piece called “The Sacred Veil.”
This is a long form work accompanied by piano and cello which tells the story of Tony and Julia Silvestri’s meeting, marriage, and Julia’s diagnosis and struggle with cancer.
Colwitz said it is a powerful piece about a difficult subject, and the Choral Society is partnering with local agencies that provide support and assistance to families dealing with cancer.
She said there are two performances, Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 3:00pm, and tickets are available through NMU ticketing services.
