Marquette, MIApril 17, 2024 – A special screening of the documentary film, Bad River, is coming up next week in Marquette.

Michael Lynn Wellman of Citizens for a Clean and Safe Lake Superior, and April Lindala, Professor of Native American Studies at Northern Michigan University, spoke about the films and the presentation with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Lindala said the documentary chronicles the on-going fight for sovereignty by the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in a “David and Goliath” battle over the 70-year-old Enbridge Line 5 pipeline on the brink of rupture into Lake Superior.

Wellman said the free showing of Bad River will take place this Monday, April 22, at 7:00 pm in the Jamrich Hall auditorium on the Northern Michigan University campus.

Lindala added that the film will be followed by a discussion with current Bad River tribal council member, Dr. Liz Arbuckle.
