Marquette, MI – November 13, 2023 – 109th District State Representative Jenn Hill stopped at the Sunny 101.9 studios to share a legislative update this morning.
The Marquette Democrat spoke about several matters with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Hill talked about the latest updates concerning controversial clean and renewable energy bills that were passed in the legislature and are expected to be signed into law by Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
She also talked about what it will mean for the State House and passing any legislation in the near future as two Democrat members are stepping down after winning mayoral races in their respective communities.
That ends a slim 2-member Democrat majority in the House and locks it at 54-54 until any special elections can be held to fill those seats.
Hill added that the legislature is wrapping up their sessions and adjourning to the holiday break this week, which will be the earliest such adjournment in years. She says going to break this early will speed up having new legislation going into effect after the adjournment date.
