Marquette, MINovember 9, 2023 – On our latest Wildcat Wednesday, we met Northern Michigan University Senior and epilepsy advocate Liz Preston, who is spearheading efforts on campus and in the community to increase awareness of epilepsy.

Preston spoke about a series of events and programs today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Preston talked about some training opportunities for people to learn to recognize and respond to someone having a seizure. They feature both online, on-demand training and in-person Seizure First Aid Training coming up on campus on November 13th.

She also invited everyone to wear purple for epilepsy awareness and come out for the NMU Wildcat men’s hockey Paint the Rink Purple game against Lake Superior State this Saturday at the Berry Events Center.

Preston also shared some of her personal history as an epileptic and her journey since being diagnosed with epilepsy when she was 14.

Find out more about NMU’s Epilepsy Awareness events at the NMU Center for Rural Health website.
