Marquette, MI – October 16, 2023 – State Senator Ed McBroom recently testified in Lansing on his legislation to enable more students to engage in work-based learning in high school.
The Dickinson County Republican was joined by U.P. school administrators before the Senate Appropriations Committee.
McBroom spoke about the legislation with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
McBroom explained that his bill would allow school districts to count students in work-based learning experiences on official pupil numbers for up to 0.75 of a full-time student.
He added that’s up from the .5 currently allowed. The increase will allow districts to make school more adaptive to help students be successful after high school.
