Public Input Sought For Marquette Art Project

Marquette, MIAugust 20, 2023The Marquette Public Art Commission is looking to hear from the public about a planned sculpture near Lake Superior in Marquette.

The piece is being created by contemporary Anishinaabe stone sculptor Jason Quigno and is planned to be installed adjacent to the new downtown pier near the old ore dock.

City of Marquette Arts & Culture Manager Tiina Morin spoke about the project and the call for public input with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Morin said the installation is called “Seven Grandfather Teachings” and is part of the city’s Cultural Trail project.  She said the proposal can be reviewed online at www.mqtcompass.com.

Public comment is being taken through Friday, September 8th at 5:00pm.
