Downtown Marquette Social District Opens, Wednesday Farmer’s Market Moves

Marquette, MI June 20, 2023The Marquette Downtown Development Authority has officially opened their Downtown Marquette Social District. There is also a change for the Wednesday evening Downtown Marquette Farmer’s Market, which starts this week.

Sara Johnson, Market Manager of the Downtown Marquette Farmer’s Market, and Michael Bradford, Business Outreach and Promotions Director with the Marquette D-D-A spoke about the new developments with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Johnson said the Wednesday Evening Farmer’s Market runs from from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and will now be held on the 100 block of West Washington Street.

She added that the move of the Wednesday Market is to bring a new festive experience to both the market and the downtown every Wednesday through this summer season.

Bradford explained that the new social district will allow for outdoor alcohol consumption of drinks purchased from participating businesses by people over 21 daily from 11:00am to 10:00pm.

The district covers a specific area of downtown Marquette, including the Third Street corridor.
