Marquette, MIJune 20, 2023The Lake Superior Community Partnership is seeing a successful start to their Childcare SPARK initiative.

CEO Christopher Germain shared an update on the program with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Germain said it combines experts from business development, childcare operations, and childhood development organizations in a business accelerator model to help interested entrepreneurs understand, launch, operate, and grow home-based childcare businesses.

He said the inaugural class is underway and is making good progress in learning how to start a childcare business in Michigan.

Germain said the LSCP created the Childcare SPARK program after they identified a shortage in available childcare in Marquette County that allowed families find the care they need to remain or re-enter the workforce.
