Marquette, MI – June 9, 2023 – “Rock of Ages”, a musical celebration of all things ’80’s rock, hits the stage next week at Northern Michigan University’s Forest Roberts Theatre.
Williams described the production as an ’80’s rock concert disguised as a musical, or a musical that is really a rock concert.
She explained that it is an ’80’s rock jukebox that tells the story of Drew Boley who dreams of becoming the next big rock star out of the L.A. scene.
Thomson, who plays the lead role of Drew, said that playing the character has been a fast-moving and very professional experience, adding that the whole production has been mounted over the past two weeks.
He also credited his parents for exposing him to the music that is featured in the show, as he is a young man in his 20’s who was born long after the music was originally popular.
The show runs Wednesday, June 14th through Saturday, June 17th, and Wednesday, June 21st through Saturday, June 24th at the Forest Roberts Theatre at NMU. All shows are at 7:30pm.
Tickets are $17 for General Public, $12 for NMU Faculty/Staff, Seniors, and Military, $10 for Students, and $5 for NMU Students.
