Marquette, MI – June 8, 2023 – Red Flag Warnings for fire danger have recently been posted for Marquette County and the central and eastern U.P. by the National Weather Service as dry conditions continue, posing great wildfire risk.
Zika explained that the warnings are based on a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and exceptionally dry fuels that create dangerous wildfire conditions.
He also talked about how the weather in our region has been a roller-coaster in the last month and he shared his expectations for what the short-term weather outlook is for any rain moving in.
