Marquette, MI – May 26, 2023 – Earlier this week, the Negaunee City Council approved a plan for the City of Negaunee to purchase the Vista Theater building from the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council.
Negaunee City Manager Nate Heffron spoke about the plan with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Heffron explained that the plan was approved on a 5-to-1 vote and, contingent on a state grant to the Marquette County Land Bank Authority, sets a purchase price of $1.00 for the building.
He added that the move would allow the City to explore increased grant funding to continue efforts to repair and restore the building.
The theater was closed down after a roof collapse in August of 2020.
