
Marquette, MI – April 4, 2023 – Upper Peninsula Health Plan is getting the word out about adult dental health services and member benefits.
Gwinn said people can practice good oral hygiene by brushing teeth thoroughly twice a day as well as flossing daily in between teeth. Use fluoride toothpaste as well as drink fluoridated water on a daily basis. It’s always a good idea to not use any tobacco products as well as limit drinking alcoholic drinks.
And most importantly, visit their dentist at least once a year.
She explained that as of April 1st, the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services has updated services available to certain members enrolled in Michigan health plans.
As members now have access to new services through their dental programs, it’s important for them to know what services are now covered.
Gwinn said Members now have access to deep teeth cleanings, root canals, sealants, crowns, and care directed at keeping gums healthy. Existing list of services includes x-rays, teeth cleanings, extractions or pulling of teeth, cavity fillings, and dentures.
She said that if members need assistance finding a dentist or help arranging transportation to their dental care, they should contact the health plan’s customer service department.
