Marquette, MI – March 15, 2023 – The Winter Roots Festival returns this weekend in Marquette on Friday and Saturday.
Truckey explained that the festival is coordinated by the NMU Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, Hiawatha Music Co-op, and Peter White Public Library and celebrates folk music and dance with a variety of performances, workshops, films and events around Marquette.
He said the festivities kick off on St. Paddy’s Day night at the Ore Dock Brewing Company with Irish dance lessons and a performance by Milwaukee-based Irish folk powerhouse Tallymoore. Tickets are available at the door.
Truckey added that the dynamic folk duo, Newberry and Verch, performs on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Forest Roberts Theatre on the campus of Northern Michigan University as part of the festival.
