Marquette, MIMarch 13, 2023The Marquette City Commission has a regular meeting coming up tonight.

Commissioners will be voting on two new business items at tonight’s session, which begins at 6:00 o’clock at Marquette City Hall.

Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs spoke about the new business items on the agenda today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Kovacs said the first new business item concerns a vote to suspend negotiations with the Veridea Group for the sale of the Cliffs-Dow property in north Marquette.

The City says they intend to begin negotiations to research the possible sale of the land to the State of Michigan for the building of a replacement for the aging Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

Kovacs added that the Commission will also be acting on a Redevelopment Reimbursement Agreement with the Northern Michigan University Foundation for redevelopment efforts at the former Marquette General Hospital property.
