Marquette, MI – March 8, 2023 – Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed legislation expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit for lower-income workers in Michigan. The measure also repeals the so-called pension tax on retirement income.
Whitmer spoke about the legislation today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Whitmer said it amounts to nearly $1 billion in annual tax relief for lower-income workers and retirees who qualify for new exemptions, as of next year.
She added that it’s the largest Michigan tax code rewrite since 2011.
