Marquette, MI – February 1, 2023 – Northern Michigan University’s 17th President, Dr. Brock Tessman, has begun his tenure at the University today.
Tessman shared his thoughts on the new position today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Tessman, a downstate Plymouth native, comes to the job from the Montana University system where he was Deputy Commissioner of Higher Education since 2018.
He talked about some of his priorities for the campus as well as his efforts to get to meet and talk with as many student, faculty, staff and Marquette community groups as he can as he settles into the job.
He was hired for the job last fall, and succeeds Dr. Kerri Schuiling. She took over after former President Fritz Erickson was terminated by the NMU Board of Trustees in September of 2021.
Schuiling served as President while a national search for new leadership was completed.
