Range Bank Supporting Schools And Stopping “Phishing”

Marquette, MIOctober 5, 2022Range Bank recently marked a milestone by donating $50,000 to local schools through the Range Bank School Spirit Debit Card program. They are also working to get the word out about their efforts to reduce identity “phishing”.

Range Bank Marketing Director Kim Erickson and Marketing Specialist Hanna Westra spoke about the initiatives today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Westra said the School Spirit Debit Card Program Currently has 12 participating schools, and any Range Bank personal checking account is eligible for a school spirit debit card. Each time a purchase is made using the school spirit debit card, a 5-cent donation is made to that school. She added the Range Annual School Supply Drive raised over $8000 for school supplies.

Erickson talked about Range Bank joining with the American Banking Association and thousands of banks across the U.S. for an anti-phishing campaign called “Banks Never ask That”, all about empowering consumers on how to spot these scams and protect their money.

They explained that education is the key to preventing these types of scams, so Range Bank got involved to help their customers think twice before clicking a link or giving up personal information by email, text or over the phone.
