Marquette Police Share Back-To-School Safety Information

Marquette, MIAugust 31, 2022The Marquette Police Department is getting the word out about safety and the start of the school year at the Marquette Area Public Schools.

MPD Chief Ryan Grim, School Resource Officer Todd Durand and Detective Nate Dawson spoke about a series of topics related to school safety today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Chief Grim explained the importance of the department’s commitment to placing a resource officer in the MAPS district school buildings and the positive relationships it builds between students and police officers.

Officer Durand shared some tips for keeping safe around school buses and traffic with the kids in areas around bus stops and the schools.

Detective Dawson added some important information for drivers related to pedestrian safety and crosswalks by the schools along with speeding in school zones.
