Marquette, MI – August 1, 2022 – The 4th annual Underwater Cleanup is this Saturday at Mattson Lower Harbor park in Marquette.
Organizer “Diver Don” Fassbender spoke about the day’s effort today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Fassbender said volunteers will meet at the harbor at 8:00 a.m. to set up displays and divers will gather for a dive briefing.
He added that volunteers are also needed through the morning, starting at 9:00 o’clock, to help with hauling the trash from the surface to dumpster and roll-off containers that will be nearby.
About 11 tons of old tires, batteries, appliances and other debris have been removed from the bottom of Lower Harbor over the four years since this effort was started.
