Marquette, MI – July 8, 2022 – Work expanding the Teal Lake beach by the City of Negaunee starts this Monday, July 11th.
Negaunee City Manager Nate Heffron spoke about the project today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Heffron explained that the work expands the sandy area of the beach from 1000 square feet to 1800 square feet, and relocates the street surface storm water discharge pipes. It also includes installation of A-D-A compliant components, addition of picnic tables and tree plantings.
He added that the overall cost of the project is just over $107,000 and was made possible by an $82,000 Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development grant, with the city covering the remaining 25 percent.
The beach will be closed for the duration of the project, which is expected to last three weeks. The shoreline south of the beach will be open for public access during the work.
