Marquette, MI – June 21, 2022 – The Marquette City Commission has a special meeting later today to consider a city operating millage increase. The millage is reviewed annually, but has not been increased in 16 years.
Kovacs said the city is currently facing a revenue shortfall due to large taxpaying entities leaving it’s tax rolls in recent years.
She said the proposal would increase the millage by just over 2.63 mills to 17.56 mills.
If approved, it would generate approximately $1.5 million in annual revenue, and would take effect July 1st.
The meeting is at 5:15pm today at Commission Chambers at Marquette City Hall.
