Marquette, MI – April 26, 2022 – The Marquette Area Public School district has a renewal for its sinking fund millage on the ballot coming up on May 3rd.
MAPS Superintendent Zack Sedgwick spoke about the request today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.
Sedgwick said the ballot proposal asks voters to renew the 10-year sinking fund at .934 of a mill per year through 2033, which would continue to generate about $1.1 million annually.
He explained that for the average homeowner in the district, as a home’s taxable value is about half a property’s market value, for an average $100,000 home with a taxable value of $50,000, the tax would be $46.70 per year.
Sedgwick added that if people have questions, he can be reached at zsedgwick@mapsnet.org or by calling the MAPS Central Office at (906) 225-4200.
