Marquette, MIApril 25, 2022 – Several Marquette regional economic and entrepreneurial development agencies are moving into a new Downtown Marquette location.

The agencies, including the Lake Superior Community Partnership, InvestUP, Innovate Marquette SmartZone, Invent@NMU and Northern Initiatives, are moving into a 29,000 square foot space known as the Kaufman Block, located at Front and Washington.

Joe Thiel, Innovate Marquette SmartZone CEO and Executive Director of Invent@NMU, spoke about the space and the collaboration behind it today with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Thiel explained that the reason behind the newly renovated space is to create a hub of resources and agencies to streamline and expedite the entrepreneurial process for someone who wants to develop an idea to fruition.

The building at 101 West Washington is also known as the former First National Bank building, and also houses Flagstar Bank, Travel Marquette and other groups.
