City Commission Naming New Marquette Police Chief Tonight

Marquette, MIMarch 28, 2022The Marquette City Commission will be officially naming a new Police Chief at their regular meeting tonight by appointing acting Patrol Captain Ryan Grim to the post, effective April 11th.

Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs spoke about this and other items on tonight’s agenda with Mark & Walt in the Morning.

Kovacs said Grim is succeeding current Police Chief Blake Reiboldt, who is retiring. Grim has been with the Marquette Police department since 2001.

The Commission is also holding a series of public hearings tonight, including one, according to Kovacs, for applying for a Michigan Department of Natural Resources Land and Water Conservation Fund grant to install a day-use access road and parking at Tourist Park.

Kovacs added that there will also be action on an amendment to the the city’s agreement with Waste Management and use of “bag stickers” for residential garbage pickup.

Tonight’s meeting of the Marquette City Commission begins at 6:00 o’clock at Marquette City Hall.
