Marquette, MI – February 23, 2022 – Lake effect snow showers, north winds gusting up to 30 mph and slippery road conditions are making for hazardous travel across Marquette County this morning. Areas of blowing snow along with several inches of snow that fell overnight have created very dangerous road conditions in some areas.
Schools are closed across Marquette County once again this morning. That includes Northern Michigan University, which is closed, with day classes cancelled for today, including all online courses. The university says a decision concerning evening classes will be made by 3:00 o’clock this afternoon.
The hazardous conditions will impact this morning’s commute, and if you don’t have to travel this morning, don’t. Reports say that some side and remote roads are impassible due to the snow that has already fallen.
