Marquette, MI – February 22, 2022 – Clean-up is underway this morning after a blast of heavy snow across the region yesterday and overnight. The snow has resulted in all Marquette County Schools being closed today, and Northern Michigan University has cancelled their daytime classes. The university says they will make a decision about evening classes by 3:00p.m. today.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Marquette County through tomorrow morning that may impact travel. The National Weather Service says patchy blowing snow through the period will reduce visibility at times. Light snow will become moderate to heavy this afternoon and evening.
Difficult travel is expected with impacts to both morning and evening commutes through tomorrow morning. 12 to 16 inches of additional accumulation is possible in the higher terrain west areas west of Marquette.
