Marquette, MI – September 29, 2021 – U.S. Senator Gary Peters says he has secured $500 million in funding for his STORM Act in the infrastructure package that passed the Senate in August and is currently being considered in the House.
Peters explained that if passed, the funding will help Michigan communities and those around the country to secure low-interest loans to help address the effects of natural disasters like shoreline erosion, extreme flooding, and rising water levels.
He also talked about a hearing being conducted by the Senate Homeland Security Committee, which he chairs, that will be focusing on ensuring Michigan and the US is fully equipped to prepare for and address any and all future natural disasters.
