Marquette, MI – September 24, 2021 – 109th District State Representative Sara Cambensy is praising the budget deal announced this week in Lansing.
Cambensy says the bipartisan budget agreement featured investments in the economy, child care and infrastructure as well as some key projects in the 109th District.
The Marquette Democrat said three local projects included in the proposed budget are in a $9.4 million appropriation as enhancement grants:
$250,000 for a new high-tech projector at the Shiras Planetarium that is part of the Marquette Area Public Schools
$6 million to upgrade infrastructure on County Road 407 in Luce County, paving the road from Deer Park to the Alger County line near Grand Marais
$3.15 million for the new Beacon House in Marquette
Cambensy says the budget is expected to be signed into law by Governor Gretchen Whitmer before the start of the 2022 fiscal year, which begins on October 1st.
