Ishpeming Public Schools Moving Ahead Through December

Ishpeming Schools Superintendent Carrie Meyer

Marquette, MI December 1, 2020 – Carrie Meyer, Superintendent of the Ishpeming Public Schools, joined Mark & Walt in the Morning today for a district update.

Meyer said it has been a crazy school year with all high school students in Michigan moved to distant learning through December 8th.  Meyer said the district is working hard to make sure all students are progressing with state curriculum.

She said all sports are on pause as the Michigan High School Athletic Association is hoping to finish all high school fall playoff games starting next week through the month of December.

Winter sports will be permitted to resume practice when students return to school hopefully on December 9th, with competition starting in early January.

Meyer also shared an update on the Art Park that was created across from Ishpeming High School on the corner of Third Street and Division Street and reminded families of the free breakfast and lunch programs running for students in the district.
