Marquette, MI – November 16, 2020 – State Senator Ed McBroom checked in with Mark & Walt in the Morning today with his reaction to the new COVID-19 statewide restrictions handed down last night by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services.
McBroom voiced many of the same frustrations he’s had since the pandemic orders began coming from Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s administration back in March. He says that, once again, state lawmakers were not involved in the decision-making process and that is not resulting in the best policy.
The Dickinson County Republican said he understands what the motivation for the orders has been, but he says a lack of transparency and legislative involvement has created arbitrary rules that are confusing for both state residents and business owners.
McBroom also talked about the recent actions by Governor Whitmer and the Department of Natural Resources to rescind the 1953 easement agreement between the state and Enbridge Energy that allows the company to run the controversial Line 5 pipelines on the lake bottom in the Straits of Mackinac.
