Marquette, MI – October 30, 2020 – Some changes are in the works for this year’s TV6 Cananthon, and WLUC-TV6’s Scott Zerbel joined Mark & Walt in the Morning today to talk about them.
Zerbel explained that the station has decided to transform the annual canathon into a virtual event. He said after consulting with officials at local food pantries, it was decided to change the TV6 Canathon from a non-perishable food collection event to a monetary donation event.
Zerbel said the food pantries had concerns about doing the collections safely due to COVID-19. There were too many uncertainties about people donating at collection sites and donations being transported to local food pantries where they are sorted then distributed to those in need.
As a result, TV6 designed and implemented a website which makes it easy to donate directly to your local food pantry. The web address is www.tv6canathon.com and it will officially go on-line as of November 2nd.
Zerbel said collections conclude December 11th and area residents can donate by check, money order, pay pal or credit card.
