Marquette City Commission Holding Public Hearing And Vote On Smoking Ban

Marquette, MIOctober, 26, 2020 – The Marquette City Commission has a regular meeting coming up this evening.  The Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing and take a vote on a proposed ordinance that would ban smoking in all of the city’s public parks and on it’s beaches.

City of Marquette Chief Financial Officer Gary Simpson (substituting for City Manager Mike Angeli) joined Mark & Walt in the Morning to preview the meeting.

Simpson said the meeting is at 6:00 o’clock at Commission Chambers at Marquette City Hall, but there will be no physical attendance from the public due to coronavirus orders.

He said interested members of the public can participate electronically, with two options: phone conferencing or written comment.

Written comments will be limited to 500 words. Written comments can be submitted directly to shobbins@marquettemi.gov, written submissions will be accepted until 12 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26.
