MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Matt Zika, with the National Weather Service Office in Negaunee Township, stopped in today to discuss National Rip Current Awareness Week.
Zika explained what a “Rip Current” is and how it is a dangerous and deadly phenomenon usually found in oceans, but is possible in larger bodies of water such as Lake Superior.
He also explained some tips to avoid rip currents and what to do if you are caught in one while swimming.
