( Ishpeming, Michigan ) – December 19, 2013 – Quarter after quarter, year after year, Great Lakes Radio and its sponsors go all out and put on a great giveaway party with some of the best prizes. From cars to campers to vacations and many other valuable prizes, the goal is to wow and deliver something everybody wants to get in on. The 4th quarter of 2013 was no exception.
The Party Starts
The prize this time was an all-inclusive vacation for two to Mexico. Thursday evening, a large crowd of invitees and their guests began arriving at about 6:00 p.m. at the Country Lanes Entertainment Center in Ishpeming. At 6:30 p.m. registration began and was overseen by Great Lakes Radio contest veterans Dee Dee and Amy.
The Contest Details
Everyone holding the blue invitation was already very lucky, having been chosen from among thousands of entries to be one of a few hundred with a chance to win a dream vacation for two in paradise.
The promise of a week on silky beaches in Mexico attracted the maximum crowd. Sponsored by Holiday Travel Vacations of Marquette and Great Lakes Radio, the event was an unqualified success.
A Well-Oiled Machine
Clocking in at just over three hours, time seemed to go by very quickly. The well-organized party smoothly transitioned from one activity to the next. Door prizes, a delicious Italian meal from Mama Russo’s Catering of Ishpeming and a game of Christmas Wreath Toss highlighted an evening packed with family friendly fun.
On the projection screen at the front of the room, images of the Upper Peninsula’s cold winters contrasted strikingly with scenes of beautiful beaches and tropical vistas. With recent temperatures in the U.P. dipping well below zero, the images of the tropics grabbed everybody’s attention.

There was even an impromptu 5-minute Michigan Healthy Status report by Doctor Guy Lasich of Family Wellness Chiropractic. Todd Noordyk, Great Lakes Radio’s President and CEO, even offered to pay for the first visit to Doctor Guy, to any interested attendees to the party on the path to a healthier life.
Bruce Dallman won a $50 Visa Gift Card from BioLife Plasma Services of Marquette. And many people picked up a free class pass for Synergy Fitness of Marquette.

From a big Jilbert Dairy Ice Cream Bucket, the finalist numbers were randomly drawn. The 4th number called did NOT respond, raising the tension in the room a bit. So, the 4th number was drawn again. Then the 5th.
As each finalist came up, they chose a gift box and were told to not open it. Once all the finalists were on stage, the Prize Master, Luke Noordyk, told everybody to open their gift boxes at one time. A moment later Diane Walsh came forward showing the prize sheet proving she’d won the 2 tickets for an all-inclusive vacation to Mexico.
Todd Noordyk immediately interviewed Diane. She registered at Hudson’s in Marquette, and she said she is taking her boyfriend with her! She was very excited to win, she didn’t know if she’d be able “to sleep tonight”!
