Negaunee, Michigan – January 5th, 2017 – The Negaunee Miners Boys Basketball Team hosted the Escanaba Eskimos tonight, in their first game of 2017. Jesse Anderson and Brady Guilbault were there to bring you all the action, LIVE from the U.P. Propane Broadcast Booth on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners won the tip and Dre Tuominen was able to score a tree pointer to give the Negaunee Miners an early 3-0 lead. The Negaunee Miners held the Escanaba Eskymos from scoring in the first 3 minutes of play and led 8-2 after the Eskymos first basket of the game. The Escanaba Eskymos were able to rally in the next few minutes and tightened the Miners lead to 10-7, with 2.5 minutes left in the quarter. The Negaunee Miners ended the first quarter leading 12-7 against the Escanaba Eskymos on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners and the Escanaba Eskymos battled defensively to start the second quarter, but the Miners still lead 20-9 with 5 minutes left in the first half of play. The Negaunee Miners and the Escanaba Eskymos played a pretty even quarter, but the Miners pulled a 29-17 lead to end the first half of play on Sunny.FM.
The Escanaba Eskymos came out into the third quarter battling and scored a three point to cut the Miners lead 29-20. The Negaunee Miners were able to score a few baskets of their own and led 37-20 with 5 minutes in the quarter. The Negaunee Miners were a bit more aggressive during this quarter and ended the third widening their lead, 45-27 against the Escanaba Eskymos on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners were first to score to start the fourth quarter and remain the dominating team throughout the fourth quarter. The Negaunee Miners easily won this game 56-40 against the Escanaba Eskymos.
