
Lansing, MI – June 5, 2020 – Governor Whitmer announced during today’s press conference that Upper Peninsula will move into phase five of the MI Safe Start Plan on June 10th. Listen to the entire conference below.

Many businesses will be able to open, including salons and gyms. Phase 5 allows the reopening of salons, movie theaters, and gyms, with possible some safety protocols and procedures to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
It also means there can now be gatherings of more people, up to 50 to exact. Outdoor performances, sporting events and graduation ceremonies can have up to 500 people, and outdoor social events can have up to 250 people.
As of Friday, there have been 120 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula. 80 of theses cases are considered recovered and 16 have resulted in death.
On June 15th, personal, up close services will reopen statewide like, hair, massages, and nail services.
