Crystal Falls, Michigan — On Sunday, March 8, the Second Sunday Folk Dance will present Stas Venglevski and Misha Litvin for a concert of Russian music at the Fortune Lake Camp in Crystal Falls, Michigan.

Listen:

White Water (including Carrie, Emma, and Susan Dlutkowski) will provide an opening set. The Stas and Misha concert will follow immediately. Music for the dance portion of the evening is by White Water with Steve Kickert and Bette Premo calling and leading dances. See details and a full season schedule at www.secondsundayfolkdance.com.

Stas Venglevski and Misha Litvin combine stunning musicianship with an endearing and humorous stage presence. Simply put, they are captivating. Their music ranges from classical, to folk, to traditional, and beyond. Stas is a virtuoso of the Bayan, a Russian version of the accordion. He has toured extensively as a soloist throughout the former Soviet Union, Canada, Europe, and the United States including performances with Doc Severinsen, Steve Allen and with Garrison Keillor (a Prairie Home Companion). He has performed with symphony orchestras throughout the United States. Misha is a master mandolinist and performs on the Domro (a Russian mandolin). He is a professor of mandolin at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Misha is originally from Minsk, Belarus and holds a masters degree in orchestra conducting and music education.

Second Sunday Folk Dance events begin promptly at 4PM CT and end at 7PM CT. Admission is $7/adult and children 15 and under are free. After this March event, there is one remaining Second Sunday Folk Dance and Concert for this season, but it will be a special one: May Erlewine will be the special guest on Sunday, April 5 (note, this is the 1st Sunday of the month since Easter falls on the second Sunday). If you would like to sponsor the SSFD with a tax-deductable donation, contact Bette Premo at 906-822-7889.
