Marquette, MI – February 23rd, 2020 –  If you visit the Peter White Public Library in Marquette often, you probably don’t realize how much they have going on there throughout the week! The Adult Services Department Head Samantha Ashby talked about some of the opportunities that are available at the library, especially Genealogy help.

Remember making your family tree in school?  Well your genealogy is much more complex than that!  It can be hard to find a place to start on your own when trying to learn more about your family’s history, so stop by the reference desk in the library to get help.  Talk to experts from the Marquette County Genealogical Society to get answers to any and all of your questions.

Listen:

The experts from the Genealogical Society can help find a place to start in your own research, answer any complex questions, and help you learn how to use the database that’s available at the library.  The lovely people at the reference desk get all sorts of questions about genealogy, so don’t hesitate to pick their brains.

The Peter White Library hosts two-hour sessions about twice a month in the Heritage Room in the library.  They also hold more intense and in-depth sessions for two months out of the year as well.  The next upcoming sessions are Tuesday, March 3rd from 10 am to noon, and Thursday, March 19th from 2 to 4 pm.

If you can’t physically get to the Library to check out books often enough, you can download the Overdrive App to download virtual and audio books from the library, and it’s free for library members!  The reference department can also help you with building a resume and filling out an application online.

The NMU Student Cyber Security Association will also be offering tech help on Fridays throughout the month of March.  They can answer hardware or software questions about your phone, tablet, E-reader, laptop, or any other technological troubleshooting you need help with.

The Peter White Public Library has many events throughout the year, and has the entire schedule available right on their website, which you can find right here.  You can also call the reference department directly at (906)-226-4312.
