Travis Nelson Talks About His Job As A Studio Producer For High School Sports

Marquette, MI – February 16th, 2020 – Though it’s a been a year since he’s started working at mediaBrew Communications, Travis Nelson had yet to have his ‘Welcome Interview’ that is a tradition for new hires.  Travis discusses what his job is, what he’s studying, and more all in the interview down below!

Travis graduated from Negaunee High School and now is a Sophomore at Northern Michigan University.  He’s currently a studio producer for Negaunee High School sports broadcasts and writes articles for each game.  He’s also the Sports Editor for NMU’s newspaper, The North Wind.

Travis grew up in Negaunee playing basketball and watching rivalries like Negaunee and Ishpeming play.  His dad coached basketball since Travis has been in middle school and he went on to play varsity basketball in high school.

Travis works in the studio to make sure the broadcaster sounds good while on the air, cues the broadcaster between commercial breaks, and writes an article about the game as the game is being played to get it published as soon as possible.

In the future after graduating from NMU, Travis wants to start writing for college sports.   From being a fan and player almost his entire life to now working on broadcasting and writing about games has given Travis a new perspective that he is very grateful for.
