Marquette, Michigan – September 21, 2019 – As The Grunge played classic rock outside in the mediaBrew studios parking lot, Todd Pazz of the 8th Day Radio show interviewed Kevin Koepp and his wife Melissa about the benefit put on by the community on his behalf. The successful benefit and outpouring of support “overwhelmed” both Kevin and Melissa.

On June 17th 2019, Kevin was brought to UP Health Systems with chest pains. They determined he had several heart attacks and would have to have 3 bypasses. Unfortunately Kevin was allergic to the drug that they use to thin your blood, so it caused him to have blood clots. The allergy caused 2 of the bypasses to fail and his heart was functioning at a 10th of what it should.
He was flown to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids and spent 2 weeks there. They were able to keep him on the transplant list, but with everything that has happened, he still only has a portion of his heart working.
He will need time and rehab, but his heart will never be at a normal percentage again. At this time the doctors will not clear him for work and we are unsure if he will ever be able to again. He has had to end his job at Pomp’s Tire and focus on his health. There have been and continue to be many bills not paid by insurance. The benefit was to help.
The benefit ran Saturday, September 21 from 12pm-5pm at the mediaBrew (formerly Great Lakes Radio) parking lot next to Super One Foods in Marquette. Live music, food, silent auctions and fun to help raise money to offset the medical costs for this longstanding member of our community.
