Marquette, MI – September 12, 2015 – This week Todd Paz brought in the Halloween spirit a little early while talking to Melanie Brand from Van Riper State Park. You can join Van Riper for some SPOOKTACULAR fun as they host a harvest festival three weekends in a row, starting September 11th.
Each Friday night for the next two weeks, this Champion based state park will be making BOO bread with the campground hosts. Following this bread on a stick making tradition you can meet up at the pavilion for a Monster Mash Dance from 9:00 to 11:00 PM and end the night with s’mores!
On Saturdays the day will be filled with games, an all day scavenger hunt, face painting, and wagon rides! You can come out and join the site decorating contest, a costume contest and even get your share of candy trick-or-treating from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. The roads in the park will be shut down during the trick-or-treating hour to keep kids safe as they move around the grounds. Ending each Saturday Van Riper State Park will host their famous Haunted Hike! People brave enough to attend the hike down Spookey Trail at 9:00 PM can expect a good scare! (Kids under 12 should be accompanied by an adult.)
Remember Sunday morning, the campground hosts will be making coffee at 10:00 AM, before announcing the winners of the site decorating and costume contests.
Whether you’re camping for the weekend, or just want to come out for the day, Van Riper State Park welcomes to to join them during their 2015 Harvest Festival Weekends!
